The Ten Rings is the MCU's longest slow burn: the organisation kidnaps Tony Stark in the very first film, gets name-dropped and mocked for another thirteen years, and only in Shang-Chi do you finally see the actual rings. Following them means watching the organisation before the object, which is exactly the trick the franchise pulled. The mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi turns the rings into an open question the MCU still has not answered.

    The Ten Rings — Wenwu's organisation, though nobody says so for thirteen years — ambush Tony Stark's convoy in Afghanistan and hold him in a cave. Raza's cell is a franchise operating without Wenwu's knowledge, and the group's name is the only clue the rings themselves exist.

    Aldrich Killian steals the organisation's iconography, hires Trevor Slattery to perform as "the Mandarin" on camera, and turns the Ten Rings into a hoax. Shang-Chi later confirms the real Wenwu took this personally.

    The rings finally appear. Wenwu found them over a thousand years ago and they have kept him alive and undefeated ever since; he builds the organisation around them. Shang-Chi takes them at Ta Lo and they bond to him, and the mid-credits scene has Wong, Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers scanning them and finding they are not Earth-made and are transmitting a beacon. The post-credits scene leaves Xialing running the organisation.

    A single overhead shot in the 1942 flashback shows the Ten Rings emblem carved into the floor of the vault where Aisha and the Clandestines find Kamala's bangle — implying Wenwu's organisation held the bangles first.

    Alternate timeline. Odin banishes Hela to Earth, Wenwu's Ten Rings find her crown in medieval China, and the rings turn out to be one of the few weapons capable of killing an Asgardian. Hela and Wenwu end the episode as allies.
