Bucky is the MCU's longest-running study in whether a person is responsible for what was done through them. The run covers the fall from the train, seventy years of Hydra conditioning, the deprogramming in Wakanda, and the therapy-mandated amends list that drives the Disney+ series. His recent entries move him from Steve's unfinished business to a lead in his own right.

Bucky ships out before Steve does, is captured and experimented on by Zola at Azzano, and joins the Howling Commandos after Steve pulls him out. He falls from Zola's train into a ravine and Steve is told he is dead.
Bucky is Hydra's asset with a metal arm and no memory, sent to kill Fury and then Steve, and he nearly does. He pulls Steve out of the Potomac after the helicarriers fall, then walks into the Smithsonian to read about himself.
Bucky appears in the post-credits scene with his arm caught in a vice while Steve and Sam argue about who to call. The footage is lifted from Civil War, so chronologically it belongs with the next entry.
Framed for the Vienna bombing, Bucky is triggered by Zemo's Hydra code words, breaks containment, and then remembers assassinating Howard and Maria Stark in 1991. He loses the metal arm to Tony and asks to go back under in Wakanda.
The post-credits scene shows Bucky waking in a Wakandan village, deprogrammed, with children calling him the White Wolf. Under two minutes, and it is the only record of his recovery.

The episode opens on the Wakanda deprogramming, with Ayo reading the Hydra trigger words back to him and nothing happening. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier · S1 E6 · 202151m
Bucky fights the Flag Smashers in New York, saves hostages from a rigged helicopter, and closes out his amends list. He hands Isaiah Bradley's memorial exhibit to him at the Smithsonian.
One scene at Walter Reed: in a suit with a flag pin, Bucky tells Sam that Joaquin's condition is not his fault and that Steve gave him the shield because he is himself. Someone calls him future Congressman Barnes, which is the setup for the next entry.
Congressman Barnes tracks Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's operation to Utah, wrecks her convoy, and ends up leading the expendable anti-heroes she tried to erase. Sentry rips his vibranium arm off, he helps pull Bob out of the Void, and the post-credits scene has him standing in her rebranded New Avengers.
In Captain Carter's timeline Bucky is freed from the same POW camp but Carter hauls him back onto Zola's train instead of watching him fall, so he survives the war intact. Alternate-timeline variant.
Bucky survives the zombie plague as the group's quietest killer, rescues a zombified Black Panther at Camp Lehigh, and is thrown clear buying time against Zombie Wanda. Alternate-timeline variant.
