Peter is recruited by Tony Stark, spends three films trying to earn the approval of a man who dies before giving it, and ends up with no aunt, no friends, and no identity. Start with Civil War, not Homecoming.

  1. Captain America: Civil War

    Film · 2016147m

    Tony finds a fifteen-year-old in Queens on YouTube, buys his silence with a better suit, and flies him to Leipzig to fight the Avengers. Peter takes Cap's shield and is sent home with a bruise and no explanation.

  2. Spider-Man: Homecoming

    Film · 2017133m

    Waiting for a call from Stark that never comes, Peter goes after Adrian Toomes's alien weapons trade, botches the ferry, and loses the suit. He works out Toomes is his date's father on the way to the dance, and turns down a place on the Avengers.

    Peter rides the Q-ship into space against orders, gets the Iron Spider suit, and helps nearly pull the Gauntlet off Thanos on Titan. He is the last of the group to dust, and he tells Tony he does not want to go.

    Peter comes back through Strange's portal five years later, runs the Gauntlet relay across the battlefield, and is holding Tony when he dies. He is back in school by the end of the film with none of his classmates having aged.

    Peter tries to take a school trip through Europe and hands Stark's EDITH glasses to Quentin Beck, who is running a drone-projection con to inherit Iron Man's position. Beck's dying move is to broadcast Peter's name and face to the world.

    Peter asks Strange to make the world forget him, breaks the spell, and pulls in villains and two other Spider-Men from adjacent universes. May dies, he cures the villains rather than sending them back to die, and he lets the spell erase him from everyone he loves.

    Four years after Strange's spell, Peter protects New York anonymously while MJ and Ned no longer know him, and the strain triggers an evolution in his powers, including organic web-shooters. He clashes with the Punisher, shelters with MJ on Castle's houseboat, and finally talks the grieving telepath Jean Grey down by sharing a memory of Aunt May.
