Fury is the connective tissue of the first three phases and almost never the subject of the film he is in, which makes this run unusual: a string of post-credits scenes and briefing rooms that only becomes a story when Secret Invasion finally makes him answer for the promises he made. Start in 1995 with the eye and the cat, and finish with him leaving Earth for good. Several entries here are under three minutes, and they are marked.

Captain Marvel
Film · 2019124m
A 1995 desk-bound Fury investigates the Blockbuster crash with Carol Danvers, meets his first aliens, helps expose the Kree, and loses his left eye to Goose the Flerken. He names the Avengers Initiative after her call sign.
The post-credits scene is Fury in Tony's living room saying he is here to talk about the Avengers Initiative. Thirty seconds, and it is the shot that started all of this.
Fury hands Tony Howard Stark's Expo research to cure the palladium poisoning and then tells him he is being considered as a consultant rather than an Avenger. He is running Natasha inside Stark Industries the whole time.
The post-credits scene has Fury walk Erik Selvig into a SHIELD facility and open the case holding the Tesseract, calling it unlimited power. Loki appears only as a reflection whispering that it is worth a look.
Fury has two scenes, both set in the present day rather than the war: he stops Steve in the middle of Times Square to tell him he has been asleep for nearly seventy years, and in the post-credits he finds him wrecking a heavy bag and offers him a job. Skip the 1943 material if you are only following Fury.
Fury reactivates the Avengers Initiative over the Council's objections, hides the Phase 2 weapons programme from the team, and uses Coulson's bloodied trading cards to push them into fighting together. He shoots down the jet carrying a nuke at Manhattan.
Fury is ambushed in his own SUV by the Winter Soldier, fakes his death on Steve's operating table, and reveals Hydra has been inside SHIELD since Zola. He kills Pierce and then goes dark in Europe.
Fury shows up at Clint's safehouse as a retired man with no agency behind him, then flies the resurrected helicarrier in to evacuate Sokovia. He is the one who tells Tony the difference between a monster and a mistake.
The post-credits scene has Fury and Maria Hill hit by the snap in a Brooklyn street, and he gets a 1990s pager off before he goes. It ends on the Captain Marvel logo.
The Fury who conscripts Peter into the Elementals mission is actually Talos in disguise, which the mid-credits scene reveals along with the real Fury running a Skrull operation on a space station. Watch it knowing that, because it changes every scene he is in.
Fury comes down from S.A.B.E.R. for the first time since the Blip, older and off his game, and fails to stop Gravik's Moscow bombing. Gravik takes Fury's own face to stab Maria Hill, and she dies in the real Fury's arms.
Promises
Secret Invasion · S1 E2 · 202358m
Fury is stripped of his authority by Rhodes at Hill's funeral, then goes home to the Skrull wife he has been married to for years without telling anyone. Sonya Falsworth starts working him from the side.
Betrayed
Secret Invasion · S1 E3 · 202342m
Fury and Talos work a Russian naval officer to stop a missile strike engineered to start a war, and Fury admits how badly he has handled the Skrulls he promised sanctuary. Talos is killed at the end.
Beloved
Secret Invasion · S1 E4 · 202336m
Fury confronts Varra about the standing order to kill him, then tags Raava at the Skrull summit and heads for the Harvest. His marriage and his cover both come apart in the same episode.
Harvest
Secret Invasion · S1 E5 · 202337m
Fury digs the Harvest, a vial of Avenger-level DNA collected off the Earth battlefield, out of a grave in Finland to trade with Gravik. He also tells G'iah what it is.
Home
Secret Invasion · S1 E6 · 202337m
The Fury who hands Gravik the Harvest is G'iah wearing his face; the real Fury is elsewhere, killing Raava after she attacks the evacuating President Ritson. He reconciles with Varra and leaves Earth with her.
The Marvels
Film · 2023105m
Fury runs the S.A.B.E.R. station and coordinates the three heroes through the entanglement problem, including evacuating the station via Flerken kittens. Substantial supporting role rather than a cameo.
Seventy years on, Fury and Clint Barton are the SHIELD agents standing there when Captain Carter steps back out of the Tesseract portal. Alternate-timeline variant, and about a minute of screen time.
Fury spends a week watching every Avengers candidate murdered and is framed for it, then works out Hank Pym is picking them off to avenge Hope. He cuts a deal with the imprisoned Loki and pulls Steve out of the ice. Alternate-timeline variant, and the one episode built around him.
The Watcher deposits the post-apocalyptic Black Widow into Fury's universe to fill the gap left by his dead candidates. Brief, and it closes out episode three's story.
